Did You Know? The heating and cooling of your home costs the average homeowner more than $1,000 a year—nearly half the home’s total energy bill.
It’s true! Americans spend about $40 billion annually to air condition buildings—a sixth of all electricity generated in this country. Fortunately, you can reduce the cost of heating and cooling by utilizing energy saving products and technique. During building design, and when your existing roof needs replacement, are both excellent times to consider reflective roofing and ENERGY STAR qualified roof products.
ENERGY STAR qualified roof products reflect more of the sun’s rays. This can lower roof surface temperature by up to 100F, decreasing the amount of heat transferred into a building.
ENERGY STAR qualified roof products can help reduce the amount of air conditioning needed in buildings, and can reduce peak cooling demand by 10-15 percent.

If you are replacing, or repairing your roof, you might also qualify for a Tax Credit of up to $1,500. But to be eligible your roof must be installed on your “principal residence” between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010.
