Tell Us About Your Completed Project
We invite you to provide details about your completed home improvement/home repair project to add to our national database of contractors. The information in our database helps us educate other homeowners and create contractor “fraud-free zones”.
If your project is close to completion, or has already been finalized, there are still several things you must do to protect yourself, your money, and your home. Before you authorize the release of the final payment here’s a checklist of some of the things that should be addressed:
- Have you inspected and approved the completed work? (Your initials or complete signature with the date should be made next to each completed job process/task.)
- Does all work meet the standards spelled out in your contract?
- Has the contractor provided proof that all subcontractors and suppliers have been paid? (If not, make sure you have a copy of each subcontractors’ lien waiver. This will protect you and your assets in the event that the contractor does not pay his subcontractors.)
- Do you have written warranties for materials and all workmanship?
- Has the job site been cleaned and cleared of excess materials, tools and equipment?

If you are a victim of home improvement, home repair, or contractor fraud, please be sure to file a complaint with the agencies below. Only through reporting fraud can we deter unscrupulous contractors from victimizing others.

Soft assistance minimizes immediate disaster-caused suffering through listening, guidance, advocacy, and counseling.
Recover after a disaster: The American Red Cross has gathered this information to encourage you take precautions to help keep you safe and speed your recovery after a disaster. You will also find ideas on what you can do to help make yourself and your home safer from future disasters.
